Time To Say Goodbye

Today was Anna's last day taking care of Kate, a sad day. It was on my mind all day at work. I know that Anna and Angela both had tears in their eyes when Angela left for work, leaving Anna and Kate to play games, explore new parks and meet the local gang at the various playgrounds they have enjoyed over the past three years. Being that today is a Wednesday it works out that I am the one who was home when it was time for Anna to say good bye to Kate. As it turns out 3 year olds don't yet grasp the concept of forever, and the only dry eyes in the house were Kate's. Kate stood at the top of the steps waving and yelling after Anna as always, but this time she didn't yell out "I'll see you on Friday". She might not understand forever, but she knew what was going on. We had a long soft hug in the entry way after closing the door and then she asked if we could open birthday presents. I think she'll be ok.

On a lighter note here's what became of a couple of our Pumpkins...

And of course the Philly's beat the Yankees in Game One tonight. Cliff Lee pitched a complete game. Way to go Indians that was a great trade.

Pumpkin Patch 2009

We made our annual trip down to Half Moon Bay this past Sunday to visit our favorite Pumpkin Patch and had a great time, well sort of. Even though this is an annual event for us, we didn't realize that this past weekend was THE HMB ANNUAL PUMPKIN FESTIVAL and that another couple thousand people would be joining us in the normally sleepy little seaside town. We sat in traffic for a little over an hour for a ride that normally takes about 20-30 minutes. Kate was thrilled as the photos below will illustrate...
Kate are you having fun? Not so much. In her defense Angela and I felt about the same way, and this was towards the end of the hour in bumper to bumper traffic over the San Mateo hills.

This one is our favorite! "I'm MAD" she said.
Once we got there though it was a totally different story. Kate digs a good Pumpkin Patch!

Angela finds the perfect pumpkin
Kate and Dad pose for a picture in front of the Pumpkin Depot Truck. Remember KDG's first visit to the patch, she couldn't yet stand on her own and look at her now.
This little girl and Kate hit it off right away, of course that was after she put the smack down on another little girl who didn't want to share the pots and pans.

We had to bribe Kate with popcorn to get her off of the tractor, she loved it.
Kate wants you to join the Pumpkin Patch
